Health and Wellbeing Decisions

There is great strength in partners coming together to tackle a shared issue. Therefore, we are committed to creating a single plan for our area that will bring together all elements of health and care alongside wellbeing.

Health and Wellbeing Board

Previously operated as two separate committees and meetings, the Health and Wellbeing board supports integration and partnership between bodies from the NHS, public health, voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) and local government. health and wellbeing boards bring together the NHS, public health, adult social care, and children's services, including elected representatives and Local Healthwatch, to plan how best to meet the needs of their local population and tackle local inequalities in health.

Collectively, the board tackles key health and wellbeing issues within our area during the statutory committee meetings.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Health & Wellbeing Board (HWB) is a statutory committee, established under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, for local authority members and local health organisation leaders to work together to create a Health and Wellbeing Strategy for the area.

The Board assesses what health and wellbeing support our local communities will need. The strategies implemented out of these discussions plan the ways the ICS can operate a better-integrated function, and how we can promote improvements that reduce health inequalities.

Together with our partners, including Healthwatch, are committed to establishing a single approach that will be both an integrated care strategy and a health and wellbeing strategy:

This approach will minimise duplication of effort within all organisations and maximise impact. There is a strong consensus amongst partners that we establish a forum that acts together to deliver a single strategy. That should be our default position other than when, for legal/technical reasons, we need to make decisions alone.
