Our People

People are at the heart of everything we do. From those we care for to the amazing people who provide health and care services across our area, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough ICS is driven by people.

Workforce

The local health and care workforce – our people – are our most valuable asset. It takes a special type of person to work in health and care. We are so lucky to employ thousands of people across the ICS, in lots of different organisations including the Local Authorities, the NHS and the voluntary sector, who are dedicated to delivering health and care to our local people.

When we asked local people to describe our workforce, those who provide health and care in our local area day in, day out, they said our people were selfless, passionate, determined, awesome and extraordinary.

We want to continue to work together to ensure our culture values all colleagues, recognising that we are stronger as a system that values difference and inclusion. This includes making sure that our people feel comfortable and safe bringing their whole selves to work – including everything that makes them who they are.

We will also create an environment free of bullying and harassment, promoting dignity and respect for all and where everyone’s contributions are recognised and valued.

One important part of our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) as a group of  employers is our anti-racism strategy. You can find out more about our ambition to become an anti-racist employer HERE.

We want our people to feel supported and to know where to reach out to when they need help. Our Staff Support Hub provides support on everything from mental health support to relationship counselling, to help people working and volunteering in health and care across our area access the support they need in one place.

As an ICS we want to make Cambridgeshire and Peterborough an incredible place to live and work in, both for the people within our organisations – Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE), Local Authority and NHS, and in other sectors

Our Leadership Agreement

Our people are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we have put in place a Leadership Compact – a type of agreement - that  senior leaders in our ICS have signed up to. We will use this to hold ourselves to account, and to be held to account in our actions, behaviours and decisions.

We will put people and quality first, have honest relationships and act with integrity, be transparent and inclusive when making decisions, do what we say, celebrating success and learning from failure, and hold each other to account

This agreement will help us to make sure we don’t lose sight of what matters most to us all: To put people and quality first, to act honestly and with integrity, to be transparent and inclusive, to celebrate success and learn from failure, and most of all: To hold each other to account.

Nothing about you, without you

Whilst our staff are our most important asset, our local people and communities, including the people who receive our care and support, their loved ones and carers, are our most important stakeholders. The people we serve are at the heart of everything we do as an ICS.

We want to empower our local communities to have control over their own health and wellbeing, and to have their say on the things that matter to them in a way that will have a real impact on the work carried out by the ICS. At the centre of this we have agreed a number of principles, that will guide all of our work with our local people.

People first

We will use clear and effective communication coupled with genuine, open engagement to support the creation of a successful and effective plan.

Open & clear

We will work closely with our partners and the wider community to better understand their needs, aspirations and challenges, and be clear about the influence they can have.

Responsive

We will actively listen to and review feedback, be clear about how we will use the information, and share regular updates, successes and examples of best practice as we develop our plan.

Inclusive

We will proactively reach out to the people who are seldom reached, with a specific focus on those affected by inequalities, or those who represent these people and communities.

Inventive

We will apply new ways of communicating and engaging, learning from best practice from outside of our sector to create new communication and engagement opportunities.

In practice, these principles will allow us to involve local people and communities in new, innovative and meaningful ways, that will enable our communities to have a real impact on the way their health and care is arranged and delivered across our area.
