Safeguarding

Safeguarding is a key part of NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough’s work, in partnership with Local Authorities and other organisations, in the interest of patient and public protection.

Safeguarding means that we protect the health, wellbeing and human rights of everyone we care for. Safeguarding is everybody’s business, and everyone working or volunteering within the ICS is responsible for safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of our communities.

Although safeguarding can affect anyone, some vulnerable people tend to be more at risk than others. This includes children and young people, and adults who are at risk because they receive care, because they have a physical disability, or because they have a learning disability.

If you work or volunteer within the ICS and you are worried for someone’s safety or wellbeing, it is important that you follow our safeguarding processes to report this.

This section includes information about what safeguarding is, how to report safeguarding issues, and how to get help if you are worried for someone’s safety – whether that’s in your professional role within the ICS, or as a concerned resident in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
