Following an open and competitive recruitment process, Jan will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning, performance, financial management and transformation of the local NHS, as part of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS).

At present Jan is the Accountable Officer of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the organisation currently responsible for commissioning (buying) NHS services for the local area and for leading Cambridgeshire and Peterborough through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jan has over 25 years’ experience of working in and with the NHS. Starting her career as a nurse, she worked in acute NHS hospitals and has had senior roles in private sector healthcare organisations and the NHS. She is committed to ensuring local people receive the best possible care, putting patients and communities at the heart of commissioning decisions and tackling inequalities.

Commenting on her appointment, Jan said: “I feel privileged to be appointed as the first CEO designate of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care Board and excited about the opportunity to bring health and care closer together than ever before, creating a more inclusive working environment and reducing health inequalities.”

Recently appointed Chair Designate for the ICB, John O’Brien, added: “I’m delighted to see Jan take on the role of Chief Executive Officer Designate. Jan is a highly experienced leader who clearly demonstrates the passion and drive that will lead our system partners as we evolve into a thriving ICS.

“Having worked across a range of settings, her insight will be invaluable in ensuring our system works together to secure  excellent health and care  outcomes  for the people of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.”

Interim Chair of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System, Dr Mike More added: "Having worked with Jan over recent years I know she will continue to drive and challenge our system to improve services for all our patients. Jan has worked tirelessly to bring partners together, so that we can join up services and improve health outcomes.

Jan will take up the CEO designate role prior to statutory accountability changing on 1 April 2022, subject to Parliament confirming the current plans.

The Cambridgeshire & Peterborough ICS is responsible for improving the health and wellbeing of local people and communities and will bring together local health and care organisations, local councils, and voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to improve population health and tackle health inequalities.
