Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System Launched

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS) officially launches on 1 July 2022, marking the start of a new partnership working all together for healthier futures.

As part of the first day, the first meeting of the NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care Board (part of the ICS) will take place online via MS Teams from 10.30am until 1pm. Everyone is welcome to join the meeting online, and there is an opportunity to submit questions in advance or ask them at the end of the meeting. You can find out how to join the meeting and read the papers in advance of the meeting on the ICS website.

What’s an ICS?

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough ICS is working together to improve the health and wellbeing of our local people throughout their lives. We bring together health and care organisations, as well as local councils, alongside Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector organisations to make a real difference to the lives of local people and communities.

Following the passing of the Health and Care Act 2022, 42 ICSs now cover the whole of England.

ICS’s cover a set geographic area, but also work at a more local level. In our case focusing on either the North or South of the area (known as North or South Place) to tailor health and care services to meet local needs and tackle health inequalities. Within each ‘Place’ are Integrated Neighbourhood Teams who work with small groups of GP practices to take an even more localised view of health and care needs.

Chair of NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care Board, John O’Brien, said: “Partnership working is not new to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.  We  have a strong foundation to work on and a clear determination across the ICS to collaborate and to enable local people and communities to benefit from more integrated approaches to health and care.”

Chief Executive Officer for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS), Jan Thomas, said: “I’m really looking forward to continuing the progress we have already made in working together as an ICS.

“We know that working collaboratively with our partners and our local people can deliver better health and wellbeing outcomes. As an ICS, we can create more opportunities to support local people and communities to improve their health and wellbeing, as well as tackle health inequalities that many in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough still face.”
