Community wellbeing event

Cambridge Central Mosque welcomed 300 people to an uplifting Mental Health & Wellness Event on Saturday 21 January.
This innovative community-led event was supported by Cambridgeshire South Care Partnership as part of the local Integrated Care System. Those involved included Cambridgeshire County Council’s Public Health Team, local Primary Care Networks, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation Trust, CSPL Mind, Cambridge Muslim College, the Lantern Project, Cambridge United Community Trust and a number of local community groups, who offered:
- wellness-related workshops on topics such as emotional regulation in children, overcoming stigma and improving sleep
- interactive stalls from a wide range of local health and care organisations
- activities such as Qi Gong, Sashiko sewing and nasheed (Islamic song)
Visitors commented on the wide range of groups and support that were there, many of which people weren’t already aware of and “didn’t want to bother health professionals about”.
One resident summed it up, saying: “Beautiful mosque! So tranquil! Lovely event! Inspiring talks! Great people – thank you!”.
Dr Osman Bhatti from Cambridge Central Mosque was delighted by the turn out and says: “Following the success of last year’s event it was great to work once again with our local health and care organisations, and community groups to reach so many people last Saturday. The feedback from people who came along really shows how by working together we can support our local people to stay well, healthy and connected to their community. We look forward to continuing to bring health and care closer to where people live as part of our monthly Health Hub”
A short film has been produced to highlight the day, which you can watch using the link below.
