Our NHS services are under significant pressure...
Don’t delay seeking help
Health leaders in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough are asking local people not to put off seeking urgent medical help during the Junior Doctors’ strikes this week, as services across the area are expected to be particularly busy during the upcoming weekend.
NHS teams across the area are concerned that people may delay asking for urgent medical help during this week’s industrial action, which could lead to a higher rise in demand after the Junior Doctors’ strikes end on Saturday morning. Putting off seeking help for an urgent medical concern could result in any health issues getting worse, so communities in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough are being encouraged to get the right help from the right service without delay.
Dr Gary Howsam, Chief Clinical Improvement Officer at NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough and a local GP, said:
“We understand that people might be anxious about seeking medical help at a time when NHS services are working hard to cope with the impact of the current industrial action. But putting off your urgent medical concerns could lead to your health problem getting worse, so we want to ask everyone to seek the help they need when they need it.
“The NHS is here for you – from local pharmacies and GP practices to Minor Injury Units and NHS 111. Please come forward if you are worried about an urgent medical issue. We want to help you.” Local people can find the best service for their needs via Local Services | CPICS Website. NHS teams that can help with urgent, non-emergency issues include local pharmacies, GP practices, NHS 111 and Minor Injury Units and Urgent Treatment Centres. For any genuine medical emergency, people should call 999 or come to their nearest A&E department straight away.
