Our NHS services are under significant pressure...
Help during the Bank Holidays
Ahead of the upcoming early May Bank Holiday, which will coincide with strike action being taken by nurses, we want to encourage everyone to use the right healthcare service for their needs.
Anyone who has an urgent, non-emergency medical issue during the Bank Holiday weekend can use NHS 111 for advice and support. NHS 111 is available 24/7, every day of the year, online via 111.nhs.uk or over the phone through 111. People who are in a mental health crisis can call 111 and select the mental health option for urgent help.
Some local pharmacies will be open throughout the Bank Holidays and can offer advice and treatment for things like colds, stomach bugs, and hay fever. You can find out more about the services that are open near you, including Urgent Treatment Centres and Minor Injury Units, via Get help during the Bank Holiday weekend | CPICS Website.
During the period of industrial action, which will see nurses at several of our local trusts take strike action from 8pm on 30 April to midnight on 1 May, we will prioritise urgent and emergency care. Some appointments will need to be rescheduled. If you have an appointment due during the nurses’ strike, please attend this as planned unless you are contacted to rebook.
Nurses at the following local Trusts are taking strike action:
- Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
- Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust
- Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust
You can find out more about how the industrial action affects services in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough via Information regarding industrial action | CPICS Website. For more information on staying well, including through self-care, visit Well together this spring | CPICS Website.
