Over 1,200 people have come forward to get their first life-saving vaccine in just four days – exactly six months after the COVID-19 vaccination programme opened up to all adults

In the first four days since the Prime Minister’s latest announcement regarding the Omicron variant and acceleration of the booster programme, over 1,200 local people have come forward to get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. This moment comes as the NHS marks six full months since the programme was opened up to all adults on 17 June 2021.

Whilst NHS teams across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are working around the clock to accelerate the delivery of the booster programme in local communities, those who have yet to take up any dose of the vaccination are still being urged to come forward to get their jab. First and second doses are available on a walk-in basis at a number of locations throughout the area, including during evening clinics at a range of sites. Patients who would prefer to book their first or second dose can still do so via www.nhs.uk/covidvaccine, or by calling 119.

Dr Gary Howsam, Chair at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group, said:
