Our NHS services are under significant pressure...
National Apprenticeship Week

6-12 February 2023 is National Apprenticeship Week, a perfect occasion to celebrate the brilliant apprentices who work in health and social care. This year the theme is “Skills For Life” – highlighting how apprentices can develop the skills they need for a rewarding career, whilst supporting businesses to develop a talented workforce.
Thousands of apprentices start a career in health and care every year – with an impressive 37,500 apprentices recruited by the NHS alone in 2020/2021. Apprenticeship routes into social care are also proving very popular, with 14,220 people starting an adult social care apprenticeship in 2020/2021.
Within the Integrated Care System (ICS) we are proud to employ apprentices, giving talented people the opportunity to gain experience in the health and care sector whilst allowing our partnership to benefit from their ideas and contributions - helping us to build and grow our health and care team.
Jenny, Marketing Assistant Apprentice said:
“Becoming a Marketing Assistant Apprentice at the ICS has been a real eye-opener to working in the public sector and the fast-paced style of the communications team.
“I have been able to balance my work and education/college style work in the role and the team have supported me with this.”
Bryony is currently completing a Level 4 Improvement Practitioner Apprenticeship. She added:
“Doing an apprenticeship appealed to me as I had been in education full-time for a long time, and I did not feel prepared for the world of work. I wanted a position where I would be supported and guided through the process. The Employee Relations Team I worked with when I started my apprenticeship were very supportive, and I had fantastic management who gave me confidence in my abilities. As a result, I was awarded with the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year for the East of England 2021!”
