Teams from the Raham Project and the Integrated Care System’s Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) are celebrating after their collaborative work to improve health outcomes for mothers from ethnic minority backgrounds was ‘highly commended’ at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards on 24 October.

The Raham project engages with and supports women and their families from within their community with all things maternity, including perinatal mental health. Launched in 2020, the Raham Project has grown to share crucial information with new and expecting mothers on dozens of different topics, with over 100 mothers supported directly in the past year alone.

The prestigious HSJ Patient Safety Awards recognise the work of teams across health and care as they strive to improve patient care and safety. Over 100 entries were shortlisted for 23 awards, following a rigorous judging process.

Carol Anderson, Chief Nurse at NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, said, “I am delighted that this fantastic project has been highly commended by the HSJ Patient Safety Awards. The Raham Project have already helped hundreds of women in our area, and we look forward to continuing to work together to improve health outcomes for mothers from ethnic minority backgrounds in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.”
