Local health worker wins award
A health worker in Whittlesey has triumphed at the Link Worker Day national awards by winning Health Prescribing Link Worker of the Year.
Charlotte Chittenden, has been working at the Jenner HealthCare as a Health Prescribing Link Worker for 2 years and won the award at the Link Worker Day ’23 Awards at the Health+Social Care show Held at the Excel in London.
The awards which recognise the impact and contributions to transforming health by social prescribing link workers saw a record-breaking number of entries this year. Social prescribing link workers connect people to community-based support, including activities and services that meet practical, social, and emotional needs that affect their health and wellbeing.
The judges said, "Charlie is highly collaborative, flexible, and creative in her approach; her successful transformative effect on patients, community, and colleagues is impressive. In addition, her determination and courage in defending her role and not allowing this to be diluted make her an outstanding role model. Seems like every community would benefit from having a “Charlie.”
Charlie said, “I was shocked and delighted to win this award, having the recognition of what I am doing for local people in Fenland and rural Peterborough at a national level is amazing. My role is extremely varied, with no two cases the same, but also immensely rewarding.
“My role is at the heart of the communities in Eye, Thorney and Whittlesey, and they have welcomed me into the role, along with the support I have from local VCSOs, statutory partners and Jenner Healthcare too. Between us I feel we have fully encapsulated the fibre of social prescribing, working in partnership to ensure that those who require support not only receive it, but that it is sustained into the future."
